Former Majestic Steel Executive To Join With New Executive Vice President of Sales, Mark Schwertner, In Growing Esmark Steel Group’s Business In The Northeastern U.S.

CHICAGO, IL, January 10, 2012 – Esmark Steel Group, the steel services subsidiary of diversified holding company Esmark Inc., today announced that steel industry veteran Peter Doyle has been named President of the company’s Ohio operations. Doyle, who will be based in Esmark Steel Group’s Cleveland office, will be joined with current company executive Mark Schwertner, who has been named Executive Vice President of Sales, a new position.

With more than 25 years of diversified experience in all facets of the service center sector, Doyle joins Esmark Steel Group from Cleveland-based Majestic Steel, where he served as Senior Executive Vice President from 1998 to 2010. Prior to Majestic Steel, Doyle was Director of Pacesetter Steel in Atlanta from 1994 to 1997. His career also includes senior positions in sales with Taylor Steel in Niles, Ohio, and VP of Purchasing with Majestic Steel.

In making the announcement, Tom Modrowski, Chief Executive Officer of Esmark Steel Group, said Doyle’s appointment reflects the company’s growing operations in the Northeast U.S. and Doyle’s expertise and experience in serving a wide range of customers in the region. “Peter brings exceptional management skills and a strong customer network to Esmark and is widely regarded for his work in the galvanized steel marketplace,” noted Modrowski. “Together with the appointment of Mark Schwertner as EVP of Sales, we have an outstanding leadership team that will help us achieve our growth plans in the Northeast corridor.”

In 2010 Esmark Steel Group consolidated its U.S. service center operations under the Esmark Steel Group banner to better serve its growing customer base and streamline operations. The operations consolidation combined Century Steel and Sun Steel in Chicago Heights, Illinois; Chicago Steel & Iron (formerly Amtex Steel, Inc.) in University Park, Illinois; and Independent Steel in Cleveland, Ohio. Today, the Illinois companies operate as Esmark Steel Group Midwest, while the former Independent Steel operates as Esmark Steel Group Northeast.

Esmark Steel Group’s operating companies are specialists in flat-rolled steel processing, bar products and just-in-time logistics services and serve the automotive, construction, durable goods and light manufacturing industries. The companies have combined annual steel shipments of approximately 400,000 tons of flat-rolled and SBQ bar value-added products and employ approximately 300 people.
